I deleted a lot of my emails and I think my Mail Database for Opera had become very fragmented. I even found some ghost entries in my trash which I was unable to delete (tried all means) which pointed to the fact that I need to optimise my database. I remember having seen that “Opera needs to do maintenance on your Mail database. it will take about 5 minutes” dialogue box that comes when Opera is first run after a upgrade. While there has been no official announcement on the same, some of my friends using MTNL 256kbps unlimited plan have reported that they are getting download speeds of 60KBps instead of 30KBps which they used to get earlier. I called up customer care to confirm and they have told that they will be upgrading the speeds of everyone within the next 2-3days.

Waiting for my speeds to double
