1. Microsoft Campus Ambassador

   You should checkout the perks of being a Microsoft Student Ambassador – free laptop, monthly stipend, free software, goodies in the form of Xbox/PC games, fly out to Seattle for program launch event and also a separate recruiting channel for internships/full-time positions! You can’t beat that! Oh, I was a Google rep on my campus a year ago, but MS’s offer just beat Google’s by miles…Google isn’t all that anymore…

   Microsoft people are able to give out laptops and other “goodies” simply because they charge so much for their services which students like me simply cannot afford. So, ultimately I would not like to represent some thing which me and most of my college students cannot afford.

   Whereas Google on the other hand is offering free services. It does not create entry barriers by means of prices.

   hi akshay…im studying in 3rd yr in NIT Calicut doin btech in computer science….google is coming to our college for ambassador program on 29th september….it wud b of gr8 help to me if u cud just outline the procedure of ur selection n oder important details….thanking u in advance….

   @Swahav, they generally come to your college and select from your college itself. If your college is not yet included, then you can probably contact them through this page http://www.google.co.in/support/jobs/bin/static.py?page=studentsin.html&sid=ambassador

   @Chandrashekhar, they have got a series of rounds for selection. Firstly, there is a written test in which your knowledge of Google is tested, your overall past experience in organising events and your innovativeness.

   Secondly , there is a Group Discussion which goes like a fish market as always and lastly there is a personal interview.

   But this might vary with college to college.

   (You can also check out this http://services.google.com/events/ambassadorprogram as the questions that they ask in the written interview are more or less the same )

   Hi. I’ve also been selected as the Google Campus Ambassador ( Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi). I just wanted to know which college you belong to and also if you have any information regarding the conclave of all the campus ambassadors.

   @Shreya, it is great to hear about your selection.

   Here is the latest update that I have gathered from various sources till now.

   Conclave for Campus Ambassadors: Mid-October
   All-India selections ending: first week of October.

   Also, Google has NOT yet officially communicated about these plans to anyone. So, this is all tentative schedule.

    Update October 08, 08: Google contacted me and informed that the selection procedures are not yet over. Lets see when is the meet finalised.

    I’ve been appointed GCA for my college too.. where are you guys from? And I was told that the ambassador conclave thing will take place in December?

    Hey! I am Google’s campus ambassador (Loyola College, Chennai). Would you be interested in starting a national link wherein we ( GCA’s from Delhi and other places) could take on the Google idea in a big way.(integrate it and sort of create an information transfer portal)

    Akshay, first of all Congrats for being selected as a GCA. I’m doing my 3rd Computer Science Engineering in a College, in Chennai. I badly wanted to be a GCA. But when mailed them , they replied we have not considered your region yet. But i’m crazy about Google. Can you please suggest me what to do.
