Sergey Brin (the founder partner of Google and a deca-billionaire) has started a blog recently. There are some important things that I would like to note about the same.

This is a very personal blog as Sergey has discussed his personal life which no one knew of till now. He clearly mentions on the blog that he is not going to post about his work life in that blog. It is only meant for personal use.

The more important points that are kind of intriguing and confusing are as follows:

  1. The blog is hosted on Blogger blogging system (He is the owner of Blogger anyways) which on first look seems as if it is any general blog. The template chosen by Sergey is as plain and simple as it gets. It is kind of surprising that this is the blog of a billionaire who could have hired the best of the designers/coders to make him a damn nice template, but he did not do that. If anyone had told me that this was Sergey Brin’s Blog, I would have not believed it but the fact has been confirmed by numerous reputed bloggers. May be this goes with the Google Philosophy of using their own products before asking customers to use them.
  2. Sergey is the owner of SergeyBrin.com , SergeyBrin.net domains on which he could have started his blog/website but he chose not to. In fact those domains are not even resolving right now.

    A more interesting thing is that the WHOIS data for those domains reveals that they were last updated on 16-September-2008 which is just 2 days before Sergey Brin started his blog! Here is a screenshot for that.

    Could be that he initially planned to start this blog on SergeyBrin.com but changed his mind at the last moment?

  3. The blog does not have any comments which is not so surprising a fact because the comments are moderated and I doubt he will approve many comments. This is because the blog’s comment section will end up as spammer’s haven.
