As my readers must knowing that I am a avid fan of Opera and recently the latest version 9.6 was launched. You can check out my basic benchmarking test between Firefox and Opera browsers to compare their performance and memory usage.

Anyways, I was trying to find out a way to somehow get to use Opera on both Windows and Linux on my dualboot system. The basic problem is that I wanted the profiles to be connected in the sense that the things that I do on one of them should automatically be updated into the other one so that there is no loss of time or lost information. There are two ways to do it :

  1. To change the profile storage location to the same place so that both Windows and Linux access the same files thus enabling same settings at both the places. More information can be found here: Link
  2. Browser Sync Method: The other one is a easier browser sync method which uses Opera sync functionality to update your settings at both locations. Basically this would require you to sign up for a “My Opera” account and then you can enter it in Opera by going to “Synchronize Opera” under the “FileTab”

You can enter your login details in that Dialogue page in both the Linux and Windows and Opera will automatically sync the following settings on both the browsers when you access internet.

Thats it! Enjoy!
