The Personal Weblog of Akshay Jain
I deleted a lot of my emails and I think my Mail Database for Opera had become very fragmented. I even found some ghost entries in my trash which I was unable to delete (tried all means) which pointed to the fact that I need to optimise my database. I remember having seen that “Opera needs to do maintenance on your Mail database. it will take about 5 minutes” dialogue box that comes when Opera is first run after a upgrade. Now the problem is that there is NO way to do that kind of optimization “on demand”.
So, here is a easy solution:
opera:config#Mail%20Database%20Consistency%20Check%20Time
Type the above code in your address bar and press enter. Then set the value of “Mail Database Consistency Check Time” to “0″ and press “SAVE”
When you close Opera after that, it will ask you if you want to do maintenance right now. And VOILA, problem solved. All my ghost entries have been taken care of.

Did the trick, Opera now loads so much faster. I am using Windows 7, Opera 10.5 on a 64bit system.
